An example of the responsibilities we have undertaken for a large event such as the Chicken Cook-Off

Determine location, venue, negotiate and book all contracts

• Determine contest rules, promote contest, accept entries

• Read all and kitchen-test selected entries

• Work with all contestants (from ten to 51) for travel arrangements, finalizing recipes, etc.

• Inviting (persuading!) media to attend, cover and promote; arrange their travel and trip logistics

• Handle ALL contest logistics -- kitchen & convention facilities for Cookoff, transportation, hotel, security, meal planning, audio-visual, ancillary events such as cooking classes or visits to other local food-oriented spots (restaurants, cooking schools)

• Write and design press kit

• Handle celebrities involved, write scripts and remarks

• Arrange for and handle photography

• Promote winners through photos, press releases, etc. after event

• All promotion and materials for contest entry period - media, websites, industry promotion

• Early review of entries

• Recruitment of food experts to serve on first and second judging panels

• Supervision of first judging panel during three-day session to select 51 state finalists

• Supervision of four chefs during kitchen testing of recipes

• Selection of newspaper food editor to serve as Chair of Judges; selection of 14 additional food professionals for judging panel

• Notification of contest finalists, including legal requirements

• Generation of all press information during the run of the contest; issuing invitations to food media and guests, receiving registrations of all contestants, press, company representatives

• Contacting food companies and organizations to serve as event sponsors and product donors

• All on-site details and logistics in executing the three-hour Cook-Off, including the supervision of 125 industry volunteers

• Conduct all national publicity and serve as contest spokesperson; design and produce all collateral and promotional materials associated with the event

• Supervision all photography, on-site and for press releases (winning recipes)

• Supervise writing and publication of The Chicken Cookbook (about 100,000 copies)

• Follow-up media

• Planning all meals and special events for attending media and competing contestants
